After Bled (SLO) 2010 and Québec City (CAN) 2015, the Winter World Master Games will take place in January 2020 for the third time. The summer edition, the World Master Games, exist since 1985.
The WWMG are the World´s Greatest Winter Sports festival which addresses athletes all around the world who are older than 30 years. The umbrella organization of the Master Games, the International Master Games Association, is an organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
Innsbruck is the host city of the WWMG 2020. The main destinations for the different sports are the Olympiaworld Innsbruck, the Patscherkofel, the Olympic region of Seefeld and Kitzbühel. Please check the announcements where your competition takes place.
The most important criterion for participation is your age. Hobby athletes as well as ambitious athletes can participate at the WWMG 2020. Current professional athletes are not allowed to participate. The minimum age varies between the different sports. Choose your sport to check the required age.
Organizer of the Winter World Master Games 2020 is the innsbruck-tirol sports GmbH (ITS). After the successful organization of several sport events such as the Youth Olympic Games, the International Children´s Games and the UCI Road World Championships the International Master Games Association choose them for organizing the WWMG 2020.
In principle, it is possible to register for several sports (exceptions: Ice Hockey, Curling). Only registered WWMG 2020 athletes will be admitted. To register for a second sport, you must be register in for one of the following sports: Biathlon, Figure Skating (Individual, Pairs or Ice Dance), Speed Skating, Cross-Country Skiing, Nordic Combined, Short Track, Alpine Skiing, Ski Mountaineering or Ski Jumping.

Please note that you can only pick up your starting documents personally if you present your identity card/passport. The place of collection will be announced here on the website in due time.
Yes. Each participant must take care of his/her own sufficient and valid accident, health, return transport, liability and, if necessary, cancellation insurance. Those insurances need to cover all possible medical and logistic costs that accrue before, while and after the Winter World Masters Games.
A separate registration category including accreditation is available for trainers and accompanying persons (so-called “companions"). HERE you will find all information about the scope of services of this registration package. Please note that as a pure spectator you do not have to register.
The accreditation serves on site as identification of a person (participating athlete, trainer, press representative, …) and grants access to certain areas of the event which are inaccessible to the public.
The payment is integrated directly into the registration process - you are not registered as a participant until payment has been made. Only credit cards (including Visa and Mastercard) are accepted as means of payment. The currency used is the Euro (EUR).
The Winter World Masters Games 2020 use the registration platform of the company “Active Network, LLC.” for the registration and administration of participant registrations. The registration as athlete, accompanying person or trainer as well as the payment of the participation fee is done via the platform of “Active".
Yes, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you used immediately after your successful registration.
No, such checks are neither offered nor carried out by the organizer. Each participant must confirm in the course of his registration that he will have the necessary health conditions for participation checked by a suitable doctor in good time before participation in the event. Discuss your planned participation with your doctor if you are unsure.
There are limited parking slots at the competition venues. We highly recommend using pulic transportation. All accredited people can use the public transportation for free.
