Short Track

On January 10th at 9:55 the very first competition of the Winter World Masters Games 2020 will take place: Short Track: 1.500 m & Relay Heats. The Olympic Hall in Innsbruck bill be the venue for the Short Track and the Figure Skating (stating Monday, January 13) competitions.

Short Track sees speed skaters compete not against the clock but instead against each other. It is a sport which requires speed, courage and clever tactics. High speeds and shoulder-to-shoulder racing mean that collisions and crashes are inevitable. The walls running around the outside of the track are therefore covered with crash mats to soften the impact. At the 2020 Winter World Masters Games in Innsbruck there will be races held over the distances 500 m, 1,000 m and 1,500 m as well as a Relay.

The minimum age is 30 years. Athletes must be at least 30 years of age by June 30, 2020 (age group 1989 and older).
