The World Winter Masters Games 2020 activities also take place in Seefeld. Hundreds of athletes traveled here today to participate in the Cross-Country Skiing competition and practice for the Biathlon.
Crowds of dedicated fans from different countries gathered to watch the events and encourage competitors to win. Most remarkable was that the American, Canadian, Norwegian and Russian athletes had the largest teams of supporters who travelled to the Tyrol this January.
“I am very excited and looking forward to competing in the biathlon events here in Seefeld. The scenery at the venue is stunning. The mix of athletes from all over the world, meeting each other in friendly competition, is a unique experience and one that I will cherish forever. Thank you Innsbruck for your friendly welcome and for providing such perfect weather”, says Chris Elden from British Columbia, Canada.
People representing different countries decided to visit Tyrol not only to see the beautiful cities but also to participate in the Winter World Masters Games 2020, including Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon.
Elizabeth Morgan, who supports the team from California, USA, mentioned how important the World Winter Masters Games 2020 are for the athletes. She thinks that the strongest sportsmen in several disciplines are from Russia and Finland. She also believes that all members of the American team will be successful this week.
The Norwegian athlete Marcel B. Cwiok holding the starting number 5555 is surrounded by a large and very international family including members from many different countries.
During these games, Seefeld has become host to many parents of famous and recognized sportsmen, such as Anton Shipulin, who have come to participate in the Nordic events.
Igor Usanin from Yekaterinburg, Russia has only been participating in Cross-Country Skiing for a few years, but was successful today with a second place (7.5 km).
Igor´s wife stated: “My husband is a champion today. This joy is so strong. What stifles tears of joy, pride and faith in the love of sports that lives in our family?" Igor started skiing at the age of 35. Today he proved to himself and to the whole world that human opportunities are endless, and if there is a desire, patience, support from family and friends, a person can reach a victory. Advice to the spouses of participants: "believe and your eyes will be filled with tears of happiness”.
