The last day of the Tyrolean School Winter Games took place in Patscherkofel and Seefeld today. Lots of highly motivated students from Tyrolean schools participated in the event.
Whilst the athletes competed on the Olympic slope, the youngsters had their own race on the family slope.
Within the teams of young sport enthusiasts you could see and feel their spirit and vigour. We caught up with a few of them for a chat on how they were feeling ahead of the race.
The girls of the NMS Alpbach:
“Although we are nervous, we are looking forward to the race.”
The racers from Kitzbühel:
“We already imagine ourselves as winners.”
To ensure fair circumstances, the teams were divided into 4 categories. Juniors m/w and seniors m/w. To determine the winning schools, each participant raced individually. The best three records of every team were evaluated and summed up. That’s how the final ratings were evaluated.
The ITS (innsbruck-tirol sports GmbH) has worked weeks in advance in collaboration with the Tyrolean education department and the Patscherkofel skiing club, in order to organise the third Tyrolean School Winter Games. The team of the ITS took care of the whole event organisation while the skiing club took care of the slopes and races at Patscherkofel.
The positive feedback we have had from all contestants and spectators today has confirmed that the Tyrolean School Winter Games was a memorable and exciting event! We are looking forward to the fourth and next edition.
