Masters Village / Innsbruck
The Masters Village is the meeting place for all athletes, sports enthusiasts, locals and guests during the WWMG 2020. Exciting events and a welcoming atmosphere make the Masters Village an experience to remember. The Masters Village will be located close to the old town, directly in the centre of Innsbruck. It will also serve as a venue for a colourful programme of side events to enjoy. After a long day of sports, it will be the place where everyone will come together to celebrate.
Opening and Closing Ceremony
The WWMG 2020 will be begin on 11 January with an Opening Ceremony. After an athletes‘ parade to the Masters Village, a ceremony will be held to mark the start of this major international sporting event. The Closing Ceremony on 19 January will mark the end of an unforgettable week in the heart of the Alps.
Victory ceremonies
Between 11 and 19 January, selected victory ceremonies for all sports will take place in the Masters Village. Every day between 6 pm and 7 pm the medal winners will be honoured in the centre of Innsbruck.
Sports Evenings
Seven Sports Evenings will be offered in selected locations in Innsbruck, Kitzbühel and Seefeld. Admission is free.

The Winter World Masters Games 2020 will be officially opened on 11 January in the heart of the city centre of Innsbruck. Following an athletes’ parade from the regional theatre through the city centre, all competitors, companions, volunteers and guests will meet in front of the stage in the Masters Village for the official opening ceremony of what is set to become an unforgettable winter sports event.

Fusing traditional brass band sound with modern beatboxing, Matakustix is a musical mix like nothing you have ever heard before. DJ Medusa is an austrian artist inspired by musicians such as Martin Garrix, The Chainsmokers and Afrojack. His performances include a wide range of genres like future bass, progressive house, dubstep and bass house mixed with the latest hits. Since 2016 DJ Medusa has gained international experience in addition to his work within the Austrian music industry.

The mixed choir "Chorkuma" provides an hour full of entertainment with an interesting mix of current pop and rock songs. From Coldplay to Imagine Dragons, Michael Jackson to Imogen Heap, there is something for everybody. This choir ensemble of more than 60 singers performs a mixture of cover versions and their own compositions.

Dive deeper into the fascinating world of Innsbruck’s customs and traditions. Great variety and entertainment are guaranteed with traditional songs and Tyrolean folk dances such as the famous thigh-slapping ‘Schuhplattler’.
7 pm – 8 pm Tyrol evening
Let the Gundolf family, also called the “musical ambassadors of Innsbruck and Tyrol”, enchant you with local yodel songs and Tyrolean singing. They have been hosting typical Tyrolean evenings and sharing their love of Tyrolean traditions since 1967.
8 pm – 8:30 pm Rumer Muller
Only a short distance from Innsbruck, the village of Rum takes carnival celebrations very seriously. On the 7 January every year, following the celebration of the Epiphany, the “Rumer Muller” take over in a spectacular procession dating back centuries. Dressed in elaborate costumes to symbolise spring (“Der Halbweiße”), summer (“Der Melcher”), midsummer (“Der Spiegeltuxer”), autumn (“Der Zaggeler”) and winter (“Der Zottler”), the group traditionally composed of only men transforms the streets of Rum into a wild spectacle. Their dancing, accompanied by the typical sound of the Styrian harmonica, enacts the arrival of spring and drives away evil winter spirits.
8:30 pm – 10 pm Peter Anich Band Oberperfuss
The Peter Anich Band is one of the oldest clubs in Oberperfuss, a village to the west of Innsbruck. Founded as early as 1797, it has a long and rich history. Over the last 200 years the Peter Anich Band has provided musical entertainment for a multitude of local traditional events and festivities.

“Erwin & Edwin“ is a band made up of not two, as the name would suggest, but in fact five musicians from Austria. Their sound is a fusion of electronic beats, traditional brass and rap. Sounds different? Absolutely! The band members themselves call their music “easily accessible” – cool melodies with a simple style. For “Erwin & Edwin“ it’s all about having fun and feeling the vibe.
Austria’s coolest electro-brass combo toured Austria, Germany and Switzerland last year after the release of their second album, “Power”, in early 2019.

Ferry & Julia Polai are legends in Innsbruck. They run a dance school of the same name, the Tanzschule Polai, and invite athletes, guests and locals to join them for an evening celebrating the most famous and beautiful Austrian dance in the world: the waltz. They will be supported by members of the Tyrolean Folk Music Association, including chairman Peter Margreiter. This is an event open to absolutely everyone – from experienced dancers to absolute beginners keen to try out something totally new!

The Inn Seit’n Big Band run by Innsbruck Music School was founded in the school year 2008/09 by Christian Wegscheider and Thomas Steinbrucker. It provides an alternative to the many ensembles and orchestras the school is known for. The band’s repertoire includes jazz and pop music. Since its creation the Inn Seit’n Big Band has performed numerous concerts and gigs in Tyrol and Germany.

Speed climber and CEO of Dynafit, Benedikt “Bene” Böhm, gives an insight into his many mountain experiences.

The 30-year-old Josh follows in the footsteps of great musicians from Vienna with songs straight from the heart sung in an unmistakable Viennese accent.
