As a volunteer, you can put your strengths and your experience into practice and select the working field that suits you best. The most important thing is: You have to be a team player! Because neither a single functional area, nor the complete big picture can work with individualists.
The Sport Team works in the venues and helps prepare the facilities (pistes, ice rinks, changing rooms and communal areas) for training sessions and competitions. Other tasks include everything from administration in the race office to handing out start bibs and assisting athletes and officials. Sport is one of the most wide-ranging working areas at the WWMG 2020
Youngsters from the local region will also have a chance to showcase their skills during the WWMG as part of the 3rd Tyrolean School Sports Winter Games, which will see school pupils from across Tyrol compete against each other in a wide range of winter disciplines. As a Volunteer you will look after the youngsters from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. This will include helping out at competitions, coordinating schedules and ensuring a great atmosphere amongst the participants.
With several thousand people receiving accreditation for the Games, accreditation is one of the cornerstones of the WWMG 2020. Accreditation cards provide information about which areas the accreditation holder has access to. Volunteers will help to create, manage and issue accreditation cards as well as helping guests who wish to apply for or have lost their accreditation. As such, Accreditation Volunteers will be among the first people that athletes, partners, Volunteers and guests meet in Innsbruck.
As an Athletes Assistant you will look after athletes and officials. This will involve accompanying the athletes throughout the day, answering questions and solving any problems so that they enjoy their stay in Innsbruck. You will also form the link between the Innsbruck 2020 Organising Committee and the athletes you are responsible for.
What would the Winter World Masters Games 2020 be without the opening and closing ceremonies? The Ceremonies Team is responsible for organising and carrying out these events as well as the medal ceremonies where athletes receive their gold, silver and bronze medals. With a cool head and fast hands, you will be involved in coordinating these events and giving a final briefing to the guests of honour who will hand out the medals to the successful athletes.
“F & B”, as this working area is known, is a major part of the WWMG 2020. You will liaise between the Organising Committee and the caterer on-site to ensure that the right food is available timely for athletes, media representatives and Volunteers. Moreover, you will work closely with the catering company to plan daily schedules, coordinate lunch packages and provide snacks and drinks.
The Marketing Team will ensure that Innsbruck, Seefeld, Patscherkofel, Kitzbühel and Telfs catch the “WWMG fever” by decorating these towns using banners, flags and signs. During the Games you will act as the primary contact person for WWMG partners and sponsors and help coordinate events they take part in. Or how about getting a different perspective on the event as one of the official WWMG 2020 mascots? Now is your chance!
With so many people involved in the WWMG 2020, Event Services will play a very important role in making sure that the whole event runs smoothly. As a Volunteer you will assist athletes and officials at the training and competition venues. You will also help visitors and other persons interested in the Games with their questions. Your friendly welcome at accreditation checkpoints and information stands will make sure that guests have an unforgettable stay at the WWMG 2020.
IT support, laying cables, drawing up radio frequency lists – these are just a few of the many areas you could find yourself working in if you decide to become a Technology Volunteer. Working behind the scenes, you will be responsible for video, sound, computers, printers and much more. Technology support is also provided on-site in all the venues.
The Logistic Team keeps transport, storage and distribution of everything linked to the WWMG 2020 running smoothly. Tasks include coordinating the punctual delivery and distribution of goods.
Working as a Volunteer in Venue Management means being at the heart of the action. You will liaise with all other working areas and ensure perfect coordination between Transport, Food & Beverage Services, Event Services and Ceremonies. Your tasks will also include helping to set up spectator stands, barriers, tents, lights and sound equipment.
Alongside the sports competitions, the side program “Master Games Village” is the second main pillar of the WWMG 2020. As a Volunteer you will support the international athletes in the many activities by leading workshops, providing information or helping with administration and coordination.
Volunteer Management coordinates and looks after all Volunteers working for the WWMG 2020. You will answer questions, hand out uniforms and help plan daily schedules. From your base in the Volunteer Center you will also be responsible for organising activities, selecting music for the chillout sessions and generally keeping all the Volunteers happy and motivated.
Media & Communications
This working area includes writing texts, organising photos and communicating the latest stories via the WWMG 2020 digital and social media channels. You will also support the Media & Communication Team in preparing press conferences and interviews as well as with all other organisational tasks. Finally, you will be responsible for looking after the members of the national and international media attending the Games and assisting them wherever necessary.
